Reaching Families in Nigeria

“Family means no one is left behind or forgotten.”  The Family Impact Nigeria 2014 ministry newsletter opened with this statement and proceeded to describe the amazing opportunities the team had to train, meet with and give practical help and encouragement to families, parents, couples, singles, young people and widows throughout the year.

In 2014 6,047 people were reached through 37 major programmes, with an additional 97-117 people reached through monthly community outreach programmes to widows, teenagers and a church for the deaf. The ministry included couples programmes at a number of churches, youth programmes at various events, a singles camp, a youth camp and a families retreat. Monthly outreaches include widow’s support and fellowship groups, Champions Neighbourhood Teenage Club and programmes for kids and parents at a church for the deaf.

Of particular encouragement in 2014 was the increase in invitations from groups for FI to use our materials to facilitate programmes.  This was particularly the case with Family Impact’s Positive Parenting Programme with 11 seminars run for parents at churches, Parent –Teacher Association meetings and Visiting Days.

With so many opportunities to fulfil the Family Impact mission to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in family life and relationships, it is no wonder the FI Nigeria Director, Tunde Fowe, ended his report with “We give Him the glory!”
